What does Duro-Lenz mean?
Duro-Lenz means “DURABLE LENS”. The process of manufacture is known internationally as “doming”. We cast a water clear, 3-D, “DURABLE LENS” effect on the surface of self adhesive labels that not only protects the image from scratching and abrasion but enhances and magnifies the graphic, giving it a distinctive appearance.

What is the Duro-Lenz label coating?
It is a two component polyurethane comprising modified polyols and isocyanates. Once cured, it is extremely tough and will withstand scratching, abrasion, UV light, adverse environmental conditions such as salt spray, common solvents and household cleaners. Our Duro-Lenz label coating will conform to all automotive test specifications for external use on vehicles. Performance data is available on request. The Duro-Lenz label coating is self repairing – stick your fingernail into a Duro-Lenz badge and watch the indentation disappear within a few minutes. Duro-Lenz badges are virtually indestructible.

Can the height of the Duro-Lenz label coating vary?
The height is relative to the viscosity of the polyurethane and the type of base material, size and shape of the surface area to be domed. On average, the height of a Duro-Lenz badge will be 1.8mm. Dependent on factors as outlined above, we can vary the height by 0.2mm if required. However, our nominal doming height is regarded as a world class standard.

Are UV and epoxy type doming resins equivalent to the Duro-Lenz resin system?
In a word…NO! Most of these types of materials will yellow, crack and craze after a short time, when exposed to UV sunlight. This result means your corporate image has been compromised by cheap labelling. Conversely, we often say “our products will outlast the products they are being stuck onto”. Therefore, choose Duro-Lenz.

Will Duro-Lenz badges stick to my products?
Duro-Lenz badges utilise long life, solvent based, permanent self adhesive materials on EVERY job produced. Our technical team will discuss with you our range of specialist adhesives at the time of quotation. Yes…we do have an adhesive that will stick permanently to your products.

Are there any problems with graphics for my badges?
Duro-Lenz produce up to full colour images or spot colours matched to exact PMS colour requirements. You will need to provide all artwork files in Illustrator or Corel Draw as vector images. If the job is for long term, outdoor use (say 5 years plus) we would prefer to screen print the graphics in spot colours only. Otherwise, the complexity of the artwork is irrelevant.

Duro-Lenz is the short run specialists. We can produce 1 off prototypes through to large production runs if required.
